Kiel Reijnen claimed the sprinter’s jersey and edged into second place overall Wednesday in Stage 5 of the Tour of Qinghai Lake in China.
Reijnen is 41 seconds behind leader Radoslav Rogina of Loborika with four stages to go.
Reijnen was ecstatic to take over the green jersey, but Jelly Belly team director Danny Van Haute made the team’s overall goal clear: ensuring Reijnen is the podium.
“We want to keep this more than the jersey,” Van Haute said.
