Jelly Belly Cycling had a strong showing at the Sunny King Criterium in downtown
Anniston, AL, in front of 2000 screaming fans. In an early aggressive move,
Reistad attacked five laps in to the race with two other riders. After five more
laps, three more riders bridged to the move. Reistad helped drive the break,
picking up two primes along the way.
Halfway into the race, the break of six was caught and four riders slipped off
the front without any Jelly Belly riders. Crane, Gaimon, Mead, and Reistad went
to the front to bring thr break back and set up a sprint for Jonny Clarke.
A few poorly timed flats took Gaimon and Mead out of the chase, and the Jelly
Belly train was only able to bring the break back to 10 seconds before the gap
went back up.
Clarke ended up in 15th and Crane finished in 27th. The boys had a good warm-up
race before the Sandy Spring criterium on Sunday.
